Leaders from Pakistan Peoples Party rang alarm bells on Thursday saying that the government was planning to attack Sindh House.
A day earlier, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf had claimed that some of their lawmakers were staying hidden in the Sindh House at the opposition’s behest. The government had alleged that the opposition had detained PTI lawmakers ahead of the no-confidence vote against Prime Minister Imran Khan.
In a joint statement to the Sindh government, PPP lawmakers said that they feared that the government would carry out a raid similar to the one they did in the Parliament Lodges.
They further said that they had received reports that the Islamabad Police and PTI’s personal Tiger Force were planning an assault on them.
They further urged the Sindh government to deploy Sindh Police for their security because they did not trust the Islamabad Police.
Islamabad Police stormed the Parliament Lodges and arrested two JUI-F MNAs among 17 others last week.
The move came after the police received information of members of Ansarul Islam— a volunteer force of JUI-F—entering the lodges in large numbers.
The raid drew a lot of criticism from the opposition which claimed that the move was made to intimidate them
