Rebuffing reports of rifts within the party as baseless, PML-Q Chief Chaudhry Shujaat said on Tuesday this leadership and his family were on the same page.
“All political decisions were taken with consultation, so the rumours that were being spread were wrong,” he said in a statement.
“All decisions in the party or at home are made with my consultation and consent. I do not believe in explanation. I would like to say that I am considered the head of the family,” he said.
The PML-Q president further said: “I have been told that there are differences in our family. There is no truth in this. Our family has been spread in all districts of Pakistan, not just Punjab for 50 years,” he said.
He said that decisions were made with his consent. Those who want to gain political advantage by propagating differences would be disappointed, he said.
The clarification from the leader came a day after PTI announced to remove Usman Buzdar as chief minister of Punjab and expressed willingness to support PML-Q leader Pervaiz Elahi for the provincial top slot.
Just before the ruling party’s announcement, another PML-Q loyalist Tariq Shafqat Cheema resigned from the federal cabinet apparently revolting against the decision and announced to vote against Prime Minister Imran Khan during the vote of no-confidence.
The PML-Q has recently been highlights as both the opposition and the ruling party have tries to woo the leadership in order to garner support for the no-confidence vote against the premier in NA.
