The joint opposition threatened to disrupt the OIC if NA Speaker Asad Qaiser failed to call the National Assembly session by Monday for the no-confidence vote against Prime Minister Imran Khan.
Addressing a press conference, leaders of the joint opposition condemned the ‘attack’ on the Sindh House in Islamabad on Saturday.
PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that his party along with the other opposition parties will stage a sit-in in the federal capital and will not let the OIC take place.
“PPP will stage a sit-in in the Federal Capital and we will see how the government hosts the OIC,” he added.
He warned the government against the use of force and demanded that the NA speaker summon the lower house session at the earliest.
Leader of Opposition in National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif advised the government against the use of force.
“The opposition has restrained itself for the past three years for the sake of democracy,” he said adding that they will not do so now.
He further warned NA Speaker Asad Qaiser against “derailing democracy” and letting the lawmakers decide who they want to vote.
He further went on to say that PTI’s dissident lawmakers were siding with the opposition at their own will and no one was being bribed.
Shehbaz warned the law enforcement agencies against becoming a party to the government’s hooliganism.
