The beloved country was still reeling under the shock of regime change and its consequent economic blowback, when mother nature showered another catastrophe— the devastating floods. Oh My Lord Have Mercy on us! No doubt we are a society of hypocrites, corrupt, swindlers, sinners, liars but we beseech You to forgive us. Bless us with a leader who should be a social reformer, a visionary, honest, competent and effective administrator. We may not be good collectively, but we do yearn for a messiah who should pull us out of this abysmal situation.
Will our prayers be responded? Under normal laws of nature, the answer is a big big NO. But if we succeed to invoke the Rehmet of Allah the Almighty, He May Help. And how do we make Him Happy? To revert back to the original genesis of the creation of Pakistan. A country that would ensure justice, education, merit, economic and social system as per the teachings of Holy Quran and Sunnah. Providing equal political, social, health and economic opportunities to all irrespective of the ethnicity, color and creed including the Non-Muslim Pakistanis. Instead of forcing others to convert or abide by own understanding of religion or sect, be benevolent, preach with compassion and love, attracting rather than repelling the lay people towards the original teachings of Islam, like love, accommodation, forgiveness and piety. Yes, the clear injunctions like prohibition of usury, instituting principles of ‘Qisas’ and enforcing of Islamic inheritance laws etc will have to be enforced on the Muslim population. Also some ‘Ijmah’ must be arrived at on the committal of ‘Shirk’, which Allah never forgives.
If Allah gives us another chance let us resolve that in democracy we shall consider both competence and popularity, in capitalism we will ensure a safety net for the downtrodden and the poor and keep a reasonable cap on holdings and profits, and will adopt Islamic Social Way of Life ( that must emerge after Ijmah). Employing all the modern knowledge and scientific tools we must ensure good governance and egalitarian approach to deliver in municipal functions, taxation and development etc.
The above, in my opinion, is good enough a manifesto, for any political party to salvage. This nation from the vortex of political, economic, social and judicial turmoil.
LONG LIVE PAKISTAN, BY REVERTING TO THE ORIGINAL PROMISE, THE BASIS ON WHICH THIS COUNTRY WAS CREATED.
