Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif has said that every obstacle facing the country currently will be overcome by forging unity.
In a tweet, he said: “There is no obstacle that cannot be overcome if the nation forges unity in its ranks and has the determination to succeed against odds. Quaid-e-Azam’s motto of “work, work & work ” is a beacon light for the nation to galvanise itself in the pursuit of self-reliance and bright future”.
In another tweet, he said: “It was sheer hard work, devotion and singularity of purpose, not magic/rhetoric, which explains why Japan stood on its feet after World War II. We’ll shed our midnight oil to overcome all raging challenges including the price hike and conspiracy to damage the country for vested interest!”
Political observers say that Shehbaz Sharif’s latest tweet indicates that he is laying the groundwork for assuming the top slot of premiership — ahead of voting on a no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan in the National Assembly on Sunday — as the joint opposition including the Pakistan People’s Party has announced to nominate the PML-N leader for the top slot.
Shehbaz, who has been a member of the National Assembly since 13 August 2018 and is the current President of the Pakistan Muslim League-N, previously served as the chief minister of Punjab three times in his political career making him the longest-serving chief minister of the province.
Earlier, Shehbaz Sharif asked the Islamabad Capital Territory administration to beef up the security of every parliamentarian on the day of voting against the no-trust motion on Sunday.
His call came three days after Prime Minister Imran Khan asked his supporters to gather outside the Parliament House on Sunday when voting will be held on the no-confidence move.
