Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf on Saturday submitted a plea in the Supreme Court to stay the voting on the no-confidence resolution against the prime minister till a conspiracy letter indicating that the motion is a foreign conspiracy to oust the government is thoroughly probed.
A day ahead of the voting on the no-trust motion, the ruling party has urged the apex court to hold a hearing on an immediate basis today.
Citing the endorsement from the National Security Committee, the plea stated that the issue was of national interest and a committee should be made to probe the letter and it should be determined who was hatching the conspiracy.
The NSC, earlier in the week, had expressed grave concern over the foreign country meddling in Pakistan’s internal affairs.
Prime Minister Imran Khan in his political rally on March 27 had shown a letter saying that this was proof that the foreign powers were in play to oust his government.
In interviews following the political rally, the premier said this was a memo threatening Pakistan of dire consequences if Imran Khan’s government was not ousted.
The prime minister had said the developing countries were controlled by the abettors calling them Mir Jafar and Mir Sadiq of the present day.
“Foreign powers do not need to conquer a country rather they achieved their objective by planting the people who compromise the national interests,” he had added.
The prime minister said he had been in the know of the conspiracy since August and had also warned his cabinet of a tough winter ahead.
To a question, he said Nawaz Sharif had been meeting people like Hussain Haqqani, who had asked the United States to protect Asif Zardari against the Pakistan Army.
Haqqani also met Nawaz Sharif on March 3, four days before the government received the communication calling for his ouster, he added.
