Ahead of the election of the leader of the house, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf resigned en masse staging a walkout from the National Assembly on Monday.
Taking to the floor, Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that the party does not want to be part of the foreign conspiracy and has decided to quit the assembly.
The PTI leader also withdrew his nomination for the prime minister.
“We have seen the power of the people yesterday,” Qureshi said speaking about the countrywide protests held in solidarity with Imran Khan.
Meanwhile, Governor Sindh Imran Ismail also announced to resign from his position.
The announcement comes after the party’s parliamentarian committee meeting ahead of the election of the prime minister in the lower house.
Shehbaz Sharif submitted his nomination papers to the National Assembly Secretariat on Sunday for the top slot.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Vice-Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi has also filed his nomination papers for the slot of the prime minister.
The joint opposition passed the no-confidence resolution against Imran Khan after a lengthy session stretching over 14 hours.
