After dilly dallying for weeks, Muttahida Quami Movement-Pakistan announced its support for the opposition and decided to vote against Prime Minister Imran Khan in the no-confidence motion tabled in the National Assembly.
The announcement came after efforts were made by both the opposition and the government alike for days to woo the party leadership.
Although Pervaiz Elahi, in an earlier interview, had said that the government allies would deliberate and jointly choose a side to vote in the no-confidence motion, the PML-Q two days ahead of the voting announced to support the ruling party after PTI announced their support for Elahi as Punjab chief minister.
In a late night announcement, MQM-P Spokesperson Faisal Sabzwari announced the joint opposition and MQM-P has reached an agreement.
He further went on to say that the party will hold a press conference later in the day to lay out the contents of the agreement between the parties.
PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari also confirmed the news that MQM-P’s Rabta committee & PPP’s CEC will ratify the said agreement.
“We will then share details with the media in a press conference tomorrow,” he said in a tweet congratulating Pakistan.
