Former prime minister Imran Khan along with his party’s parliamentarians have decided to resign from the National Assembly.
The decision was announced by Fawad Chaudhry on Twitter who said that the parliamentarians will tender their resignation to the speaker by the evening.
“We will fight for freedom,” he said.
The announcement comes after the party’s parliamentarian committee meeting ahead of the election of the prime minister in the lower house.
Shehbaz Sharif submitted his nomination papers to the National Assembly Secretariat on Sunday for the top slot.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Vice-Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi has also filed his nomination papers for the slot of the prime minister.
The joint opposition passed the no-confidence resolution against Imran Khan after a lengthy session stretching over 14 hours.
