Govt removes Chaudhry Sarwar as governor Punjab

The federal government removed Punjab Governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar from his post ahead of a crucial National Assembly session voting on the no-trust motion tabled against Prime Minister Imran Khan.

Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry made the announcement on Twitter.

He went on to say that name of a successor will be announced later.

According to the Constitution the deputy speaker will be the acting governor for the time being.
