The National Assembly session was once again adjourned without a vote on the no-confidence motion tabled by the opposition against Prime Minister Imran Khan.
Without taking up any agenda in the lower house, Deputy Speaker Qasim Suri adjourned the session till April 3, Sunday.
Suri had earlier asked lawmakers to take the floor in the question hour. Leader of the Opposition Shehbaz Sharif was also not present in the National Assembly to begin his arguments in the resolution.
Meanwhile, members of the opposition protested against the adjournment of the session.
The development comes hours before Prime Minister Imran Khan is set to address the nation following a National Security Council meeting.
The opposition seems to be leading in the number game after over a dozen disgruntled PTI lawmakers decided to vote against the premier.
However, the biggest blow to PTI came from MQM-P who announced their support for the joint opposition.
After dilly-dallying for days, the MQM-P on Wednesday announced to join forces against the premier for ‘national interest’.
Meanwhile, PML-Q had announced to support the government. The announcement came following a meeting between the PTI and PML-Q leadership in which the latter were assured support for the position of Punjab chief minister.
Following the meeting Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar also tendered his resignation to the premier and Punjab Governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar.
