Opposition sets stage for vote of no-confidence against PM Imran

Date:

Joint opposition lashed out at Prime Minister Imran Khan on Tuesday for his failed policies in a conference following submitting a no-confidence motion in the National Assembly.

Leader of Opposition in the National Assembly and PML-N Chief Shehbaz Sharif berated the premier on his recent tirade against EU.

Criticising Imran on his recent remarks against the EU forcing Pakistan to condemn Russia’s actions in Ukraine, Shehbaz said that Islamabad trades with EU countries and the premier’s statement might not sit too well with the West.

The PML-N chief went on to say that Imran’s policies during his almost four-year tenure have only adversely affected the country.

He further said that given the current situation, bringing the no-confidence motion was the need of the hour.

Supporting Shehbaz, JUI-F Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman stressed that if the opposition did not step in even at this point that masses would not forgive them.

The JUI-F chief said that Imran had gone back on all his promises and the situation was only getting from bad to worse.

PPP Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari was confident that the opposition had enough support to win the no-confidence motion in the National Assembly.

He further said that it was important for the opposition to come together and voice their concerns against the government.

The press briefing comes hours after legislators from the opposition submitted a no-confidence motion in the National Assembly Secretariat.

While the opposition comes together in the parliament, PPP’s long march has entered the federal capital and is all set to stage a sit-in at D-Chowk.

PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari had earlier given PM Imran a five-day deadline to step down or face consequences.
