NA session adjourned again as govt makes last ditch effort to woo allies

Date:

As Deputy Speaker Qasim Suri adjourned the National Assembly session again till March 31, the government is making last ditch efforts to woo its allies.

With the no-confidence motion tabled against Prime Minister Imran Khan, this is the second time the lower house has been adjourned without take up the matter. The earlier session was adjourned following prayers for deceased MNA Khayal Zaman.

Leader of the Opposition in National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif presented the no-trust motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan.

“I will request that you give permission to present this item in the house … as the resolution was already on the agenda,” he said addressing the NA deputy speaker.

Following the tabling of the motion the house was adjourned for March 31.

Meanwhile, the government continues to put its house in order in PTI’s parliamentary meeting and woo its allies.

Imran Khan along with other PTI leaders were holding talks with the top leadership of PML-Q.

Speaking to the media ahead of the meeting, PML-Q leader Pervaiz Elahi said that they along with other allies will soon come to a conclusion to who they will support in the no-trust vote against the premier.

According to different media reports, it is being said that the PML-Q will most likely be offered the top slot in the Punjab Assembly of the chief minister.

The development comes as the opposition in Punjab Assembly tabled a no-confidence motion against Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar.

Earlier, a delegation of the government’s representatives led by Vice Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Shah Mahmood Qureshi held a meeting with Speaker Punjab Assembly and the leader of Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi.

The meeting held at the residence of Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi in Islamabad focused on the current political situation in the country.
