‘High-speed flying object’ from India crashes into Pakistan

Date:

A ‘high-speed flying object’ from India crashed in Mian Chunnu on Thursday causing damage to civilian property.

DG ISPR Major General Babar Iftikhar told a media briefing that at 18:43 hours on March 9, “the high-speed flying object was picked up inside the Indian territory by the PAF Air Defence Operation System, which suddenly maneuvered from its initial course and intruded into the Pakistani territory”.

He went on to say that it was a supersonic flying object, most probably a missile but was unarmed.

“The projectile ultimately fell near Mian Chunnu and damaged some civilian property, however, no loss of life was reported,” he added.

DG ISPR further stated that Pakistan Air Force continuously monitored the complete flight path of the flying object from its point of origin near Sirsa in India and till its point of impact near Mian Channu in Pakistan.

“Pakistan Air Force initiated requisite tactical actions in accordance with the Standard Operating Procedure,” he added.

Babar highlighted that the flight path of this object endangered many international and domestic passenger flights both in Indian and Pakistani airspace as well as human lives and properties on the ground.

“Indian authorities need to explain as this incident could have resulted in a major aviation disaster,” he said condemning Pakistan’s airspace violation.

He said it shows a disregard on part of the Indian side for aviation safety and reflects very poorly on their technological prowess and procedural efficiency.

“The incident could have resulted in a major aviation disaster as well as civilian casualties on the ground,” Babar underscored.

“Pakistan strongly protests this flagrant violation and cautions against recurrence of any such incident in future,” he added.
