FM Qureshi questions opposition’s need to hold rally ahead of no-confidence move

Date:

Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, taking a jibe at the opposition, said that they do not have the required numbers to win the no-confidence vote against Prime Minister Imran Khan or else the PDM would not have asked its supporters to come to Islamabad ahead of the D-Chowk rally.

The statement comes after PDM leaders announced to hold a rally in the federal capital hour after Prime Minister Imran Khan announced to hold a rally at D-Chowk.

“No-confidence motion moved against Prime Minister Imran Khan will face defeat,” the foreign minister said during a press briefing in Islamabad.

He said there is chaos in the ranks of opposition parties and they do not have the required numbers.

Shah Mahmood Qureshi said the unholy alliance amongst the opposition parties is not durable and will shatter soon as their ideology and destination is not the same.

He said PTI will face the no confidence motion in a constitutional, political and democratic manner.

“We have held successful public gatherings in Mandi Bahuddin, Mailsi, Lower Dir and Hafizabad in which the people expressed their solidarity with Prime Minister Imran Khan.

He said a public gathering to be held at D-Chowk on 27th of this month will be peaceful in which the prime minister will put his point of view before the public.

OIC meeting

The minister, earlier, chaired an inter-ministerial meeting to review arrangements made for the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers meeting to be held on 22nd of this month.

In his remarks on the occasion, the Foreign Minister said Pakistan being founding member of the OIC considers hosting the 48th session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers as an honor.

“Pakistan is again emerging as the world’s center of attention on the diplomatic front,” he added.

The foreign minister expressed satisfaction over the arrangements for the OIC session.

The meeting was also briefed about the foolproof security arrangements for the OIC meeting.
